If you are interested in this opportunity, and meet the listed requirements, please email your resume to Strategic Buyer MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESThe Strategic Buyer is responsible for executing the sourcing strategy, working primarily with R&D on sourcing components for new products and supporting current business through contract negotiations with strategic suppliers.  The successful candidate must have the ability to learn and understand the features and benefits of a product and use that knowledge to make informed purchasing decisions.   This role will include submitting requests for quotes, placing purchase orders, and resolving receiving discrepancies, and invoice discrepancies.

  • Source new components in line with the overall sourcing strategy
  • Select and build relationships with key strategic suppliers.
  • Research products and their features to understand what to buy and why, allowing informed decisions about their company’s spending and what products will best meet the company’s needs.
  • Work with the engineering department and purchasing team on new product and engineering change transition.
  • Establish ERP data for supplier and component data including unit price, lead time, safety stock, etc. 
  • Monitoring inventory levels to ensure that adequate supplies of product are available at all-times.
  • Manage preparation and distribution of request for quote (RFQ) packages.
  • Manage suppliers to maintain project timelines for new products.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, implementing improvements and corrective action as required.
  • Negotiate supply agreements with key strategic suppliers.

 Strategic Buyer REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in supply chain, business, or a related field preferred.
  • ISM (Institute of Supply Management), C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) certified in Basics of Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in purchasing, sourcing, materials, or supply chain 
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • MRP/ERP experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and scheduling skills.
  • Detail oriented.
